Ornate Garden

August 25, 2020 Leave a Comment

The Ornate Garden suite has a variety of different elements to it and creates a great layered card.  Ornate Layer Dies have a great variety of different edges to the layered dies.  A large flower, like in the Ornate Style bundle, is a fantastic image to fill up the face of a card or add color to a card.

Materials and Sizes

The card base is Calypso Coral card base – 5.5″ x 8.5″, scored at 4.25″
Use the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder to emboss the card base on just the front side.
The Ornate Garden Specialty DSP is measured 3.5″ x 4.75″
The Gold Foil is cut with a die as well as the vellum.
Three small flower and the large flower images were colored with Stampin’ Blends.  I used Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Calypso  Coral, Poppy Parade, Petal Pink and Daffodil Delight.  I went into more details on the video.
By adding the Gilded Gems embellishments it finishes the card off.

I stamped the flower image using my Stamparatus with Memento, then I cleaned the stamp and re-stamped it with versamark and then use clear embossing powder.  There are a couple of reasons that I use clear embossing powder over black ink.  I embossed the sentiment from the Ornate Thanks stamp set.

  1.  The black embossing powder can leave little marks here and there on your image if you don’t use an embossing buddy or something along those lines.
  2. When using alcohol markers you don’t want to color over the embossed lines because the embossing powder can tend to smear.  When using clear it gives you a little more flexibility not to smudge.

The video will go into a little more detail on coloring, embossing and a few more techniques that I used.  This card was CASE’d out of the catalog.  I was intrigued by this card the day I saw it and have been wanting to create it.

I wanted to CASE this card to also explain how handy catalogs are.  There are so many samples and ideas in the catalogs.  You could CASE a card or just get a template idea, color, etc.  Don’t forget if you don’t have the stamp set I use, you can always use the same pattern or techniques with a set that you have.  Of course if you like the set, it is always available in my shop.

Let me know if I can help you with anything.  Thanks for stopping by.
