Hi everyone. I hope you are enjoying the summer. Here in California it was hot hot hot this weekend. I decided to spend my time in my craft room this weekend. This Watercolor Poppy has been in my collection for some time. This is a simple two stamp set. I used a dauber and the Hero Arts Ombre ink pads to color the flowers and leaves. I used my new favorite black ink to color the outline and sentiment, Gina K Amalgam in Jet Black. (All supplies are listed below)
These fun dies are the Penny Black Antique Frame dies. On the black cardstock I used the whole die set to create the nested outlines. The dies are linked together with a little piece of metal that is meant to be cut. After creating the black borders, I cut the dies apart and used the white for the panel. I used the outline that fit perfectly around the outside of the white. I added foam tape to the back to adhere the two dies together and to pop it up on my card. The small black piece behind the sentiment is actually cut in half because that die was too long and I wanted it to complement the outside die.
To finish this card I just popped the sentiment up, added a little black licorice thread behind it, and I also added a few black enamel dots to add a little interest.
Can you see my mistake? We all make them right? Behind the sentiment you can see a freehand line and dots. This is actually a stamp that is a rectangle border to frame the stamp. I was using a stamp positioner and put my paper in upside down (eek), so I ended up cutting three sides of the border off so that I could still use this piece. This allowed me to still show that fun stamp and not ruin my flower image.
Thanks for stopping by.
