Forever Fern from Swap to Wow Card

July 21, 2020 2 Comments

The Forever Fern stamp set is one of my favorites in the new catalog and is a perfect set to create swap and Wow cards.  The shading and images of the stamps are so pretty and just really make your card pop.  In this post I want to share how to create a swap card with guidelines, how to step up that swap card and then how to make it a WOW card.  The first card shows the basics on a swap card.  There is the card base plus two layers, at least one embellishment and the stamped images and cutting must be clean and straight.

To step up the card, decorate the inside of the card by adding some stamping, you don’t even have to add a sentiment.  Adding some stamping to the envelope really takes it over the top.

The following card is really stepping it up to a Wow card.  I used the dies to cut out the leaves, add some elements in a foil and/or vellum.  Create a beautiful frame in foil, and emboss it for texture, to frame the sentiment and pop it up with dimensionals.  Notice I layered some DSP in the background to add just another layer or so of texture.  Top it off with some gorgeous ribbon and rhinestones and there you have a WOW card.

Again, you want to add some stamping on the inside and to the envelope.  Now you have a gorgeous card to give to someone special.  The Forever Fern stamp set makes creating a gorgeous card so easy.

Watch my video on my blog to show you the steps I took to step up this card.  I hope you enjoy it.

In your video you talked about a “list” do descriptions on how your swaps were stepped up. Do you still have that list? I would love a copy of it. I am involved in a group where we do some swaps and would love some extra ideas on how to step up my cards. BTW, these cards are absolutely beautiful.

I am so sorry I saw this and got busy and forgot to message you back. I am going to do a live today. After that give me a bit and I will see if I can still find it. I am on a new computer so I may not have it. However, here is another video. It is one of my first but it also talks about stepping it up. I hope this helps. If I can find the outline I will send it to you. It may be from an email. I will look. https://youtu.be/A9V5u4g3cy0
