Vintage Rose Valentine Cards

January 10, 2020 Leave a Comment

The Vintage Rose stamp set is so gorgeous I just had to make some Valentine cards. I used my Misti and stamped all of the flowers at the same time. If you have seen a video with me using my Altenew stamps, you know they are layering stamps. These flowers were 3-4 layers but WOW, the results are incredible. I was on a roll and just decided to keep stamping. I provide cards for several offices so I decided this would be one of my larger quantity cards.

The Altenew Watercolor Striped stencil and the Picket Fence blending brushes helped create a beautiful background.  Doing this in front of the tv at night is a great way to multi task.  Do several different colors and have a stash put away for future cards.  It is really easy with the Make Art magnetic Stay-tion.  I have so many tools and gadgets that I thought I didn’t need this.  I thought I could just tape my stencil down or use the adhesive spray but WOW, I love this tool.

I knew I was going to be doing oodles of Valentine’s Day cards (I mean it is one of the top celebrations for cards), so I looked up some fun sentiments and found several packages of great sentiments for the inside and out from Penny Black.  These cards can also be used for Anniversary, Just Because, Mother’s Day or even birthdays.  I try not to be specific about the holiday always, this way you can use them for another occasion.

Be sure to make extra leaves so you can add extra leaves or save them for another card with flowers.  For the printed paper to the left, I used whatever I had in my stash.  You will notice there are several different types.  Just use something you have that goes with your color palette.

My new favorite black ink for sentiments is the VersaFine Clair.  This ink is a nice crisp black ink.  I popped up each flower and leave on foam squares to really give it a bouquet feel.  I added the twine by doubling up on the twine and wrapping it.  This way when you tie your bow you have four loops and strings hanging instead of just two.  Trim the edges to the length you want and there you go!  I finished the cards by adding enamel dots.  Altenew has matching dots to their inks.

I am always so pleased when I use the Altenew layering stamps.  I think you will be too.
