Whale Done! You’re Kind of a Big Deal – Stampin Up

November 8, 2020 Leave a Comment

The Whale Done! You’re Kind of a Big Deal card was created with the Whale Done bundle paired with the Whale of a Time DSP and the Seabed Embossing Folder create fun scenic cards.  This card has a lot of fun techniques.

Measurements

Card base Soft Sea Foam 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
First Panel is Pretty Peacock measuring at 4″ x 5 1’4″
Whisper White panel is 3 3/4″ x 5″
(after you color it, trim 1/4″ from the bottom for the inside of the card)
Inner panel is 4″ x 5 1/4″
Scrap paper of Whisper White to stamp and cut seaweed and sentiment.
Scrap of Pretty Peacock for back layer on the sentiment.

Instructions

Pretty Peacock panel

Emboss it with the Seabed Embossing Folder.
Use a dauber to add some Versamark around the edges, generously.
Emboss with gold embossing powder.
Distress the edges with a distress tool or scissors.

Whisper White panel

Use Blending Brushes and blend with these colors starting from the bottom.

  • So Saffron
  • Soft Sea Foam
  • Pretty Peacock

Blend the colors to create a sea-like image and use the Pretty Peacock ink to add a dark boarder around the outside of the panel.  Let dry while finishing stamping.

Stamping

Stamp one seaweed image in Granny Apple Green ink.
Stamp two additional seaweed images using the Balmy Blue, Pretty Peacock and Soft Sea Foam.
Die cut the larger plant image with DSP.  Find a green type color DSP to add some texture and depth.
Die cut out all images.
Find a turtle image that you like to fit swimming out of the seaweed (not too big).
I used three different inks and daubed them onto the sentiment to add more fun to the card.

Other

Pick a Whale image and use the punch to cut it out.
Versamark the whole Whale and emboss in clear embossing powder.
Return to your blended panel and add splatters of water.  I use a spray bottle but slowly pull the trigger for larger spots.  This makes it look like bubbles or particles in the water.
Add the swimming fish on both sides of the panel.  This ties in with the sentiment on the inside of the card.
Use the tiny dot stamp image as sand.
Distress the outside edges of this panel also.

Make sure you pop up all of the images so the scene looks realistic.

Video

The video HERE shows you how I created the card step by step.

For those that asked about the spice container I use for my embossing powder, here is a link.  It looks like they are sold out but maybe you can find it elsewhere.  Click the photo.,

I can’t believe all of the amazing projects I have seen done with the Whale Done bundle.  I love the “You’re Kind of a Big Deal” sentiment too.  What a fun card.

I appreciate you stopping by.
